A native of Horry County, Luke’s family has strong ties to the Grand Strand. Luke was born and raised in Conway, graduated from Conway High School and went on to get his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of South Carolina. Luke has a thriving law practice in Conway and lives in Myrtle Beach with his wife Lindsey, daughter Hollings and son Luke Jr.
Luke is a strong advocate for Horry County. He was first elected to the State Senate in 1993 and has served continuously since. He is a member of the Judiciary Committee, the Banking & Insurance Committee, the Transportation Committee and the Education Committee. He also chairs the subcommittee on Office of Regulatory Staff of the Public Utility Review Committee, which is tasked with oversight of the state’s public utilities.
For Luke, job number one is putting his constituents first. He stands up to the special interests in Columbia. He is known by his constituents as someone who is fair in listening to all sides of the issues, and advocating for the solutions that rise above partisan politics.
Luke is a member of the Horry County Sertoma Club and active in his church, Ocean View Baptist.
Luke’s commitment to the people of District 33 is evident. He has a passion for public service, and is focused on making Horry County a better place to live, work and raise a family.
